History Comes Alive! The Historic Odessa Foundation’s school program offers educators a well-documented, interactive and hands-on sampler of 18th century life in colonial Delaware. Although designed specifically with Delaware teachers in mind, our program is broad enough to accommodate school from other states, homeschoolers, youth organizations and summer camps.
Join the Historic Odessa Foundation as we read excerpts from poem. Then, see the story come to life as we tour our holiday exhibit after decorating delicious holiday cookies.
Plan to meet the acclaimed Delaware artist, Denise Dumont at her exhibition of luminous Delmarva paintings at the Historic Odessa Foundation. This event is held in conjunction with the painting exhibit, Capturing the Light: Landscapes of the Delmarva and Beyond.
Learn how to weave an amazing basket with one of Delaware’s master basket makers, Sherry Pie. Sherry will instruct participants all they need to know while experiencing this hands-on historic craft.
This Hostess Basket is the perfect size for entertaining at 10” around and 4” high. The simple but elegant use of smoked and natural round reed is sure to fetch compliments from your company. The base will be partially done in advance of the class.

From the rolling dunes of Cape Henlopen State Park and Cape Cod National Seashore to the industrial buildings surrounding Baltimore Harbor, this selection of paintings by Denise Dumont reflect the artist’s view of the landscape of the Delmarva Peninsula and beyond.
Kitchen gardens were an essential part of daily life in historic Odessa. Walk through the Collins-Sharp garden and explore the wide range of plants which were cultivated for use in cooking, medicines and even the cleaning bucket. Gather herbs and flowers to create your own 18th century sachet.
Cost is $5 for each participant/free to members.
The Cantwell's Tavern Patio Party is back! On Saturday, May 27, you can enjoy grilling on the patio with special menu at Cantwell's Tavern and a Tap Takeover by Mispillion Brewing Co. There will also be live music for you to enjoy from 5 - 8pm.
On Sunday, May 21, from 6 - 10pm you can bring your own blanket and join an outdoor movie with your family. Beer and wine will be for sale and the Roaming Raven Food Truck will be offering your favorite foods!
On June 1st, renowned photographer Kevin Fleming will conduct a gallery tour of his photography exhibit at the Historic Odessa Foundation’s Visitors Center. This presentation is in conjunction with the amazing photography exhibit, Definitely Delaware: Photographs by Kevin Fleming.
On May 6th, in conjunction with the photography exhibit, Definitely Delaware: Photographs by Kevin Fleming, the award winning photographer Kevin Fleming will host a full day photography seminar at the Historic Odessa Foundation.
