Reception & Lecture: "The History of Materials for Making Maps"

Please join us for refreshments at a reception recognizing Betty Fiske, HOF Conservator and Curator for "Mapping America," from 5:30pm-8:30pm in the Historic Odessa Bank. A map lecture by Joan Irving, Winterthur Paper Conservator, begins at 6:00pm and will last appoximately one hour. This event is free for HOF Members or $5:00 for non-members.

Mapping America 1570-1916: The H. Rodney Sharp Map Collection

H. Rodney Sharp collected maps and displayed them in his home, “Gibraltar”, in Wilmington. His particular interest focused on North America and the mid-Atlantic region, and many of these maps were acquired by reference to 18th century William Corbit inventories for display in the National Historic Landmark Corbit-Sharp house restored by Mr. Sharp.

School Program Workshop: School Days

History Comes Alive! The Historic Odessa Foundation’s school program offers educators a well-documented, interactive and hands-on sampler of 18th century life in colonial Delaware. Although designed specifically with Delaware teachers in mind, our program is broad enough to accommodate school from other states, homeschoolers, youth organizations and summer camps.

Artist Reception & Demonstration: Capturing the Light

Plan to meet the acclaimed Delaware artist, Denise Dumont at her exhibition of luminous Delmarva paintings at the Historic Odessa Foundation. This event is held in conjunction with the painting exhibit, Capturing the Light: Landscapes of the Delmarva and Beyond
