Discover the Historic Odessa Foundation’s collection of redware pottery on display now through mid-October in the historic Bank Building on the corner of Second and Main Streets in Odessa. These utilitarian vessels included plates, platters, bowls, jugs, jars, mugs, cake and butter molds, and even flower pots. The forms indicated that the wares were meant for everyday use.

A PowerPoint presentation will be presented by John Bansch, a current volunteer of the Historic Odessa Foundation and past-president of the Sussex Chapter of the Archaeological Society of Delaware (2006 to 2010).

Typically wheel-thrown and fashioned into a variety of forms, these wares were used to store, prepare and serve foodstuffs.
