H. Rodney Sharp collected maps and displayed them in his home, “Gibraltar”, in Wilmington. His particular interest focused on North America and the mid-Atlantic region, and many of these maps were acquired by reference to 18th century William Corbit inventories for display in the National Historic Landmark Corbit-Sharp house restored by Mr. Sharp.

Join us for an evening of fine food, drink and merrymaking as the staff from the Historic Odessa Foundation serves a hearth cooked dinner of mouth-watering dishes using the recipes, tools and techniques of the 18th century. Savor our delicious British Punch and assorted appetizers by the fire before touring the Corbit-Sharp House by candlelight. Then, return to the hearth of the Collins-Sharp House for a sumptuous autumn dinner and wine with each course.

Learn how to weave an amazing basket with one of Delaware’s master basket makers, Sherry Pie. Sherry will instruct participants all they need to know while experiencing this hands-on historic craft.

This Hostess Basket is the perfect size for entertaining at 10” around and 4” high. The simple but elegant use of smoked and natural round reed is sure to fetch compliments from your company. The base will be partially done in advance of the class.

Please join us for refreshments at a reception recognizing Betty Fiske, HOF Conservator and Curator for "Mapping America," from 5:30pm-8:30pm in the Historic Odessa Bank. A map lecture by Joan Irving, Winterthur Paper Conservator, begins at 6:00pm and will last appoximately one hour. This event is free for HOF Members or $5:00 for non-members.
