A Storied Past book cover

Book Signing: Meet the Author

Wednesday, July 12, 2023 - 4:30pm

We are delighted to announce that A Storied Past: Collections of the Historic Odessa is off the presses and ready for purchase!

Using rich archival and genealogical sources, author Philip D. Zimmerman, PhD., a renowned Museum Decorative Arts Consultant, brings to light for the first time an extraordinary array of 100 decorative and fine arts from the Foundation’s collections.

The richly illustrated hardcover book includes more than 200 photographs, many details and historic images, along with careful physical descriptions and historical documentation. Meticulously researched and elegantly written, A Storied Past illuminates a wealth of furnishings – including many made locally by John Janvier and his talented family –works of art, and artifacts with common provenances and interlocking histories that place them into the artistic, social, and historical contexts of their time. With its well-documented group of family objects it also provides an intimate glimpse into the daily life of members of the Corbit and Wilson families in the late 18th and 19th centuries.

We hope you will plan to attend our Book Signing Event on July 12 from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm when we will host an Author Lecture and serve wine & hors d’oeuvres.

Books will be available at that time for purchase and signing at a 20% Member discount.
