ARTISAN CRAFT WORKSHOP SERIES: Hooked Rugs

ARTISAN CRAFT WORKSHOP SERIES: Hooked Rugs

Saturday, August 17, 2024 - 10:00am

Immerse yourself in a monthly American craft workshop series where participants will create an artform using traditional materials and methods taught by experts in each craft to include baskets, bandboxes, hooked rugs, marbleized paper, and floorcloths.  Take home a wonderful hand crafted keepsake.

This workshop is a beginner’s rug hooking class.  The participants will learn how to hook a small project (8x8 inches) and also will learn many different options on how to finish their project.

Magbis Vizcaino-Green began hooking rugs in 2007.  She has always been interested in fiber art but it was after she moved from Venezuela to America that she visited an antique store and saw for the first time a rug hooked by hand and used as wall art.  Magbis immediately fell in love with the art and started researching where she could learn how to make them.  She has been hooking rugs ever since.  Soon Magbis will complete a two-year term as the President of Woolwrights' Guild of Lancaster Pennsylvania.  Lastly, she currently is working through her teacher certification from the Pearl K. McGown Teachers Workshop.

Cost is $100 which includes all materials.

Pack your own lunch and snacks or go next door for lunch at Cantwell’s Tavern.
