Odessa’s Cultural, Educational, and Financial Impact
N Odessa is an important regional cultural center! It brings value to the expanding Middletown, Odessa, Townsend community. This region lacks cultural opportunities, and residents have a hunger to learn more about Delaware’s history and also a desire to educate their children.
N Historic Odessa is an economic driver with capacity for expansion, generating income for the region in terms of hotel stays and restaurant patronage. Cantwell’s Tavern draws members and out-of-town guests for a hearty meal and a bite of Delaware’s history.
N Historic Odessa exists to serve, educate, and inspire. With an increase in staff we can offer more community events to young families. We can build audiences and increase our memberships through events, such as Brewfest. We would like to better serve the community by enhancing our member benefits throughout the year and identify more opportunities to cultivate our younger constituents.
N We hope to convert newly-acquired acreage to a walking path that can
be used by the general public. Our young families are interested in sharing outdoor activities with their children. By developing walking paths our members would be returning to Odessa not only to see the buildings or
to view a new exhibition, but also to enjoy the bucolic landscape while introducing their children to our 18th century village.
N Additional resources will give us the ability to offer access to our collection on-line and take programs out of town by bringing more innovative and educational experiences into the classroom, particularly to the underserved community.
