The first "Christmas in Odessa" took place 49 years ago as a fundraiser for the Women's Club of Odessa. The purpose was to fund college scholarships for local high school seniors. With the help and cooperation of Odessa homeowners and the Historic Odessa Foundation, the Women’s Club of Odessa has provided scholarships to over 100 students.

The Historic Odessa school program offers educators a well documented, interactive and hands-on sampler of 18th century life in colonial Odessa with Corbits: A Genteel Quaker Family. Although designed specifically with Delaware teachers in mind, our program is broad enough to accommodate schools from other states, home schoolers, youth organizations and summer camps.

Any fan of PBS’ Antiques Roadshow will be familiar with the mustachioed and pony-tailed Noel Barrett, the show’s resident vintage toy appraiser, who will be coming to the Historic Houses of Odessa on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 1:30 p.m. to present a free lecture on vintage toys and to examine the Historic Odessa Foundation’s collection of 19th and early 20th century toys.
