You are invited to step back in time through the doors of the Historic Odessa Foundation and explore the Christmas traditions of yesteryear! Participants experience a special candlelight tour of our 2018 holiday exhibit and enjoy wine and festive treats in front of a roaring fire at the Collins-Sharp House, c.1700.

2018 Hearth Cooked Dinner - SOLD OUT!

Join us for an evening of fine food, drink and merrymaking as the staff from the Historic Odessa Foundation serves a hearth cooked dinner of mouth-watering dishes using the recipes, tools and techniques of the 18th century. Savor our delicious British Punch and assorted appetizers by the fire before touring the Corbit-Sharp House by candlelight. Then, return to the hearth of the Collins-Sharp House for a sumptuous autumn dinner and wine with each course.

WHYY First Experience: The Bramble Collection

Over 50 years ago Marnie Bramble began collecting tea caddies. Tea caddies are little containers that were used to store tea in the 18th and 19th centuries. Marnie’s collection grew through her son Mark’s travels. Marnie’s collection is now on display in Odessa. That’s where WHYY First Experience picks up the story.

Sugar Shakers: The Inez Sunshine and Tony Samolsky Collection

The dispenser which is commonly called a sugar shaker today was originally called a sugar sifter, sugar duster or sugar muffineer. These collectable table items first appeared in the late 19th century and only lasted until the early 20th century. They were a passing fancy.
