"Don't Be So Pushy!" Lecture
Ever want to know what the proper etiquette is concerning a baby food pusher? Never used a baby food pusher? Discover the interesting facts about these rare childhood utensils at a talk given by the owner of the wonderful collection on loan to the Historic Odessa Foundation, Georgia Renck. The history and practice of the Victorians to have an implement for every occasion will prove to be true with this presentation. Etiquette was the fashion of the day where parents persuaded their children to not use their fingers while eating. Baby food pushers were in high fashion in Europe and America from 1850-1915. Renck will survey traditional patterns, shapes, makers, and materials while showing her collection that was once belonged to her mother. Participants will also learn what Renck describes as “make-dos” in pushers. Plan on attending this fascinating show-and-tell adventure.
