Buy George! Lecture

Thursday, June 23, 2011 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm

The curator of the Buy George exhibit will present a lecture about the recently installed small exhibit at the Historic Odessa Foundation’s Bank Building on June 23rd at 7:00pm. Brian Miller will discuss how the image of George Washington has been marketed to Americans for centuries. Depictions of our founding father and general have ranged from the realistic, to the idealistic, to the ridiculous. Discover the sources for the popular images on prints, souvenirs, and miscellaneous items. Miller will also highlight other sites where one could study other George Washington images. Plan to attend this presentation here in the first state about the man who was first in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen.
